Ingredients
For the Pound Cake
- 180 ml Butter
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 3 Eggs
- 1 cup Cake Wheat Flour
- 2 tbsp Milk
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Essence
For the Chocolate Ganache
- 200 g chocolate
- 1 cup fresh cream
Directions
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius. Line and grease a 17cm or 20cm cake loaf pan.
Making the Pound Cake
Cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated, then add the vanilla essence. Sift in the flour and baking powder, alternating with milk, and fold to combine. Pour the batter into the prepared cake loaf pan. Make a bit of a well in the middle of the batter and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Leave it to cool completely.
Making the Ganache
Heat the cream on the stove over medium heat and pour over the chocolate. Set aside, cover, and rest for 5 minutes, then mix to combine to get a silky smooth chocolate ganache. Cover with plastic wrap and leave in the fridge for one hour. Once set, whisk the ganache with a hand mixer until fluffy.
Serving
